Childcare Funds available for Children in Shelters

August 21, 2014

The Children in Shelters Childcare Assistance Fund supports homeless families with childcare costs. Thanks to the CT Coalition to End Homelessness and generous support from the U.S. Department of Housing, this fund is continuing to accept new applications.
Children in Shelters is open to families living in emergency shelters (including domestic violence shelters) or enrolled in the CT Rapid Rehousing Program.  It may pay for childcare fees at a licensed facility or licensed individual provider for a child under the age of 6 and their eligible siblings, as well as transportation needs, such as bus passes or gas cards. Children in Shelter provides up to eight weeks of assistance to each family.

For detailed information on eligibility, guidelines, application, program agreements and more, please see the Children in Shelters page on CCEH’s website.
