October 22, 2024
Please join the Office of Early Childhood, Behavioral Health Initiatives’ upcoming webinar: There’s No Place Like Home: Supporting families experiencing housing insecurity and its impact on young children.
A “home” is defined as the place where one lives permanently, especially as a member of a family or household. The unfortunate reality is many children and families in Connecticut, and throughout the United States, struggle with unstable housing and risk of homelessness. There is a notable increase in homelessness over the years, and many of Connecticut’s homeless population are children. Homelessness is a significant concern; safe and secure housing is critical for children’s development and well-being. Childhood experiences can create the foundation for children’s growth into adulthood; as a result, insecure housing is a problem that directly impacts all of us both in the short and long-term. Join us as we explore the reality of insecure housing and homelessness and how its existence does not discriminate by age, race, creed, or zip code. Learn about available resources and supports serving Connecticut’s children and families experiencing housing instability.
