AAC Exploration: A Guide to Evaluation Success
TWO part remote training will be presented by Elena Fader, MA, CCC/SLP, AAC Specialist with New England Assistive Technology (NEAT). Training will be held on November 4th and 9th from 1:30-3:30. Participants must attend both days of training.
The range of AAC apps and devices available on the market today can be confusing and overwhelming. How do you know which systems to compare and trial? What considerations need to be made specific to young children to support their language development? Team collaboration, a needs assessment, and a comprehensive feature matching process can help set a child on the right path for AAC success. By means of exploring readily available resources, product demonstrations, and hands-on learning opportunities, these two 2-hour NEAT workshops will guide Birth to Three providers through the AAC evaluation process.
This training was well received when presented to our Birth to Three Speech Language Pathologists. This training is essential for SLPs completing AAC assessments with a child and family, and will provide an overview of specific apps and devices for all early intervention disciplines to have an understanding of available supports.
