The CT Birth to Three System provides a variety of opportunities for Professional Development.

- Required for all new staff working 1 hour per week or more with families (as of September 1, 2018)
- Must be completed within 90 days of start date with program
- Online modules and exam (approximately 8 hours total)
- Print Birth to Three Initial Certificate from TRAIN CT (as proof of completion of applicable required training)
- REGISTRATION WILL CLOSE TWO WEEKS PRIOR TO THE ONE-DAY TRAINING DATE. CERTIFICATES OF MODULE COMPLETION MUST BE RECEIVED BY JAYNE.SMALLS@CT.GOV AT LEAST ONE WEEK PRIOR TO THE TRAINING DATE. NO EXCEPTIONS.
- Required training in order to function as service coordinator
- Pre-requisite: completion of Birth to Three Initial Certificate
- Completion of Service Coordination online modules and exam ( approximately 2 hours)
- Required observations (Initial Eval/Assessment; Initial IFSP; IFSP Review or Annual)
- One day in-person/remote training
- One day training is offered every other month pending sufficient enrollment. Dates and registration on Calendar
- Registration closes TWO WEEKS PRIOR TO THE TRAINING!
- Participants MUST upload and submit of Initial Certificate, Service Coordination Module Completion Certificate, and Attestation of Observation form through Protraxx in the CT Birth to Three-Service Coordination Prerequisites Class. All 3 assignments must be received by submission deadline (no later than one week prior to training in order to attend the in-person training.) Certificates received after this date can be retained for the next training date. Additional information on how to upload assignments can be found here: How to upload assignments-After completion of one day training, print Service Coordinator Certificate from Protraxx (as proof of completion of applicable Service Coordination training). Protraxx link is on calendar under the date of the training.

All Modules are accessed on TRAIN CT
- Modules are set up in 2 different Training Plans (Birth to Three Initial Certificate, Service Coordinator Certificate)
- Initially all users, whether new or existing, will have to register or login, select their group (CT Birth to Three) and add their appropriate training plan(s). See instructions below:
- TRAIN CT Instructions for setting up training plans.
- After setting up training plans, login, click Your Learning, Your Training Plans
- Record and KEEP your TRAIN CT user ID and password information!
- Use Chrome or Firefox browsers. If you are not able to play a module try a different browser, but the issue is often on the user side (browser, firewall, outdated programs)
- For HELP contact the TRAIN CT site administrator for assistance (Danny White, 860-509-7557 or danny.white@ct.gov)
- Modules open in a different window from the main TRAIN CT window. When module is complete, close module window and return to TRAIN CT. Course will show; “Completed” and “Print Certificate” will be visible

This module is intended to assist those working in early intervention programs, receiving schools, and families to prepare for the transition out of Birth to Three. The module includes the following segments:
- Why Focus on Transitions
- Fostering Relationships with Families
- The Transition Process
- Building Collaborative and Supportive Teams
The module was developed by Eastern CT State University with information from the CT Birth to Three System, CT State Department of Education, and CT Parent Advocacy Center. This module will soon be available through the Office of Early Childhood’s new Learning Management System and the link above will be activated at that time.
These videos were developed as part of a Preschool Development Grant with EastConn.
The video was developed in CT and addresses the five key characteristics of coaching as described by Dathan Rush and M’Lisa Shelden. Video includes clips of coaching in action as well as expert information from Rush & Shelden. More information can be found here.

Professional online modules produced by OEC for home visitors. Modules are in English and Spanish and include: Talking to Families About Safe Sleep, Family Play and Child Development, Communicating With Families, Cognitive Limitations, Infant Mental Health, Trauma Informed Care, Healthy Families – Physical Activity and Nutrition. These modules will soon be available through the Office of Early Childhood’s new Learning Management System and the link above will be activated at that time.
Quick (3 minute) , fun, catchy video about writing functional outcomes with families ( Related to the revised 2016 IFSP).
This online module will approximately 15-20 minutes to complete.
