ICD Coding

As providers recently heard at three regional meetings, there were changes to our procedures pending that were related to the changes in the International Statistical Classification of Diseases (ICD) coding scheduled for October 1, 2014. These changes, that impact Medicaid and Commercial Insurance billing, were to take effect April 1st so we would have six months to prepare. Yesterday, March 31st , HR4302 was passed out of the Senate and includes this verbiage: SEC. 212. DELAY IN TRANSITION FROM ICD-9 TO ICD-10 CODE SETS. ECO-Maps

Last month Sherri O’Neal from CPAC’s Family Connections and Aileen McKenna, Birth to Three Family Liaison, recorded an eco-map demonstration to be shown at service coordination training. For training purposes this 13 minute video is slightly longer than a typical eco-map. Most take around ten minutes to complete but the wealth of information gathered in that short time is well worth the extra minutes of effort.
