Transition Conferences – whose job is it anyway?

Years ago we learned that Part C of the IDEA requires that the service coordinator convenes a transition conference between 9 months and 90 days before the child’s 3rd birthday. Part B of the IDEA requires that the LEA participate in that meeting. Since our compliance is measured by whether or not the conference was held on time (and not whether the LEA participated), we are the ones who must schedule and hold the conference on time. Childcare Funds available for Children in Shelters

The Children in Shelters Childcare Assistance Fund supports homeless families with childcare costs. Thanks to the CT Coalition to End Homelessness and generous support from the U.S. Department of Housing, this fund is continuing to accept new applications. Children in Shelters is open to families living in emergency shelters (including domestic violence shelters) or enrolled in the CT Rapid Rehousing Program.  It may pay for childcare fees at a licensed facility or licensed individual provider for a child under the age of 6 and their eligible siblings, as well as transportation needs, such as bus passes or gas cards.
